All Four Convicted In Telangana Rape Case Killed in Encounter

On Friday, Hyderabad Police has encountered four convicts who were reportedly involved in gang rape and killing of a veterinary doctor. Hence, the Police Department of Hyderabad is now being praised for their great work as people were outraged over the horrible crime.

All the four of them were under police custody, when the incident took place in Mahabubnagar District at Chatanpally, said DCP N Prakash Reddy. After a brief exchange of firing around, 6:30 am in the morning, the convicted men were shot dead by the police. The rapists were taken to the spot of the crime for the reconstruction of the scenario as a part of the probe.

The police have stated that the four convicts snatched their weapons and fired on them, ever they tried to flee away. A senior police officer was quoted saying that “the police fired in retaliation in which the four accused dies,” adding that two cops were also injured.

The four suspects, all workers, aged between 20 to 24-years, were detained on November 29; accused of gang rape and murder of a veterinary doctor and later they even burned her body. They were initially retained to judicial custody and were transferred to police custody on December 4. 

Several questions arose on how the cops found itself in a situation, where it led to an encounter remained unanswered.

No details were available immediately regarding how many cops escorted the four convicts and whether they were handcuffed or tied together as is eventually the case.

Earlier, a local cop had put the time of the encounter at 3:30 am and there was no instant explanation for the incongruity.

Replying to the encounter of the four suspects, the victim’s sister has praised them. She was quoted saying, “We are happy. We did not expect this. We thought they would be hanged through courts.”

The victim’s father has also expressed gratitude towards the government and police department for this worthy job. He said, “My daughter’s soul must be at peace now.”

The gang-rape and killing of her had triggered nationwide aggression among the public and lawmakers asked for speedy justice to the perpetrators. During the last few weeks, thousands of shown protests in several cities regarding this rape case.
