The Assam government initiated the move by the Pragyan Bharati scheme, which was launched by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Minister of Finance. This scheme will offer a scooty to all the girl students with first-division in their Higher Secondary examination.
In order to avail the benefits of the scheme girl-students had to apply online. The scheme launched by Mr Sharma aims to provide with the benefit to girl students so that they can travel easily to their respective colleges.
As stated by a meritorious girl student who scored 86% in her examination, “We are happy and grateful to the Government of Assam for providing us scooties. We do not have the licence now, but we will soon get one since we are already of the legal age, that is, 18.”
Over 1,830 two-wheeler scooties will be handed to meritorious girl students from the Guwahati vehicle dealer. While total 22,000 scooties will be given to girl-students across the state.
Thus, encouraging the students to perform better in their studies.
