Bornali Gogoi becomes first woman Wing Commander of IAF from Assam
Bornali Gogoi, a woman from Assam has bought glory to the state by getting selected as the first Wing Commander of Indian Air Force from the state of Assam.
The Lakhimpur born girl joined IAF on May 27, 1996 and served in the air force as a pilot officer.
She was later promoted to flying officer, flight lieutenant and has now been conferred the reputed position of Wing Commander.
She now holds the unique distinction of being the first woman from the state of Assam to become a Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force.
Bornali completed her studies from Cotton College (now Cotton University) in Guwahati and later went on to win a gold medal in Electronics and Tele Communication from Assam Engineering College before joining the Air Force.
