Check details for New COVID testing rules for air passengers travelling to Assam.

On Wednesday, new guidelines were announced by the Assam Government for people travelling via air to Assam.

From next week COVID test will be done at the Guwahati airport itself for all air passengers, thus making things easy for passengers.

Like before, there is no need to travel to Xarusajai stadium to get a COVID test done. While other things in the guidelines include that any person travelling within the state or between any Northeastern states will no longer need a mandatory COVID test.

On Twitter, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Minister of Health and Family Welfare, posted “From next week- 1. #COVID19 test for incoming flight passengers will be done in Guwahati Airport itself instead of Xarusajai. 2. Air passengers travelling within Assam and those travelling between the North East States will no longer require mandatory #COVID19 testing.”

Also, on Tuesday, the health minister shared the COVID update, which includes, 3,329 total active cases, the recovery rate is 97.96%, while the mortality rate is 0.45%. the total death count is 966 in the state.

In the month of October, the government of Assam eased COVID-19 rules for the flight passengers, which included that air passengers coming in from outside Assam need not undergo a mandatory test if already done in their place of origin, 72 hours prior to their travel.

But passengers must carry important documents. Mr Sarma, further mentions that children below the age of 10 years need not opt for mandatory testing.
