Guwahati Constructed Its First Bicycle Lane At Dakhingaon-Sawkuchi Stretch
The Government of Guwahati has constructed the first-ever bicycle lane for cyclists in Dakhingaon – a new step taken to make the city more environment-friendly.
Nowadays, most of the citizens of our country becoming more health and environment-conscious. Hence, this track will offer the people of the city with cycling pleasure, without any danger or chaos of driving on the busy roads.
Arshel Akhtar, the Cycle Mayor of Guwahati, was quoted saying that “this is a good initiative from the state PWD department and is done under Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) and we expect this should be done inside the city also.”
Mr. Akhtar said, “The current search which is constructed at the corner of the city has been build with all technical specifications and based on the feedback of the citizens the government may develop the track in other parts of the city.”
It is further noted that a bicycle lane is being constructed inside the “TECH CITY” in Guwahati’s Mirza.
Hence, it is expected that this bicycle lane should reduce the chances of accidents on roads, as recently, two cyclists were run over by a passing car in front of Janata Bhawan in Guwahati.
