It’s official: Guwahati to host Filmfare Awards 2020, date announced

After months of rumors and speculations, The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) finally signed an Memorandun of Understanding (MoU) with the Times Group for hosting the upcoming edition of Filmfare awards in Guwahati.

The prestigious awards show which sees the entire Bollywood fraternity turn up in numbers will be held on February 15, 2020 in Guwahati. The venue for the event is yet to be announced.

This will be the 65th edition of the awards show, which is often considered to be the Indian version of Oscars.

During an event, Jayanta Malla Baruah, the chairman of ATDC announced that the Times Group will donate 50% of the ticket revenue generated by the event to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Assam.

The official announcement was made at a program which saw the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal, ATDC chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah and the Managing Director of Times Group Vineet Jain among other dignitaries.

This will be the first time that the Filmfare awards would be held outside of Mumbai.
