Northeast people in Mumbai request Govt. to help with rent
Many northeastern people of India living in Mumbai to earn money faces problem amid nationwide lockdown as all worklaces remain shut.
North easterners from Assam, Manipur, Nagaland who work in restaurants, salons, spa, hotels,etc in the city worries that with no income they will be left with no money to pay for their rent.
These people live around Santacruz, Kalina, Khar, Borivli and Mira Road.
The members of the North east have elected representatives and appealed to the government to help them during the state of lockdown period.
“The rental issue with landlords is there for slum, chawls owing to the coronavirus calamity. Many of us work in the private sector. We appeal to local elected representatives to intervene on our behalf and engage with landlords so that we are not thrown out,” said Leo Raikhan.
